A-house > villa concept 2006/2007

In 2006 a collaboration between Atelier 8 Architectuur & Stedenbouw and HyperFORM resulted in the A-house villa concept.

The concept illustrates the link between the Dutch rural areas and the city, bringing traditional barn construction methodes from the farm to the city's suburbs.

This is the result > hyperFORM A-house

The construction of the superstructure consists of four wooden A-frames. All floors, walls and facades are suspended within these frames, creating the very open and non-traditional structure of the house.

meer halen uit een relatief laag budget...

De opdrachtgever hield niet van muren en wilde eigenlijk een grote open ruimte met in een hoek het zitgedeelte, in een andere hoek de keuken en weer in een andere de badkamer. Deze specifieke wens was natuurlijk niet echt praktisch in het dagelijks gebruik. Daarom ben ik uiteindelijk met de opdrachtgever tot een compromis gekomen > Geen echte muren, maar halfopen afscheidingen. Zo krijgt de leefomgeving een duidelijke indeling zonder de begrenzing van muren. In feite blijft de hele ruimte op deze manier toch open.
Het dragende deel van dak is op een alternatieve manier geconstrueerd, waardoor het nu een centraal 'grafisch' element is geworden van het huis, met een duidelijke verwijzing naar de directe omgeving van de woning.
