Y-house 1.0

Design for a lakeshore retreat in the Catskill Mountains in New York State, for a retired couple in their mid-60s.

This design was also semi finalist in the Who's Next 2011 design competition.

The basic frame is a modular system of standardised glue laminated beams, this will keep construction cost relatively low and provide for maximum efficiency and transparency.

Below are a few renders for a basic 3-bedroom layout with a small library and an art studio. All interior walls are non-constructive and only space dividers. Add or remove walls as you require in the completely open floorplan.
